What people are saying...
I have been here on several occasions over the last few weeks. I find the food and service to be excellent. Congratulations to the owner and the staff.
I always dine at this restaurant when visiting family and friends in Cairns - the menu is not extensive, but what they serve is fresh and always cooked to perfection with enough variety to suit the most discerning palates! Highly recommended.
This has to be one of the worst establishments in Cairns in my opinion. I sat down for a nice mel only to wach the owner tos a young couple with two small children simply because they were not ordering enough food for his liking... I never knew there was a minimun to buy in a restaruant but there is in this one.. furthermore i paid 25 dollars for a small lump of pasta that was overcookd and the sauce tasted slightly burnt.. make sure you pck somewhere else and avoid this place like the plague.
The first time that i ever went to Piccolo Cucina i thought it was going to be a normal italian restraunt.
"you know once is enough."
But as i tasted the food, as the staff welcomed me and were so polite i had a quick change of mind.
When i went to Piccolo Cucina i ordered the special, gnochii with a sweet mushroom sauce. I was so delited that a couple weeks later im looking for the number on a site and i stummbled upon this comment box.
"It was the order of my life."

I have never been treated so rudely by the owner and his daughter. We have dined all over the world and this Italian establishment is quite mediocre. When they finally decided to wait on us, the owner was so condescending. We ordered a bottle of the house cab, which was decent. He tried to talk us into a more expensive wine and from then on we were ignored. We finally ordered the cheese pizza and spaghetti pomodoro. I asked for garlic to be put on both and he said flat out "No". I asked for chilli flakes and he said "No". The pizza was cooked in a wood burning stove but the crust did not stand up. It was soggy and tasteless. The spaghetti was done perfectly but the sauce was bland with no fresh seasoning or garlic.

I like many locals have been to this restaurant 2 or 3 times a mth for many yrs & never been disappointed.
Everything is handmade & simply delicious.
I have spent some time in Italy & the food at this place is comparable or even better than anything I ate in a restaurant over there.
Yes the owner poss needs better people skills & sometimes the service lacks a touch but the food is simply to die for & well worth it.
