Mother India Restaurant

We went to this restaurant for a meal near the end of our stay in Cairns in May this year and had the best meal, very friendly customer service, Yummy Yummy food and relaxed but great atmosphere, the price was good as well. We will be visiting again next time in Cairns.

12 bucks for 2 samosas...ripp off..and even the taste was crap...Worst Indian Restaurant we dined so far....I want to rate SUPER AWFUL restaurant...Seriously ppl, you guys need to think on these feedbacks and improve it...otherelse shut the restaurant and pls dont dissapoint the customers in the name of INDIAN DISHES...

We went to Mother India Indian restaurant in Cairn for the dinner after landing Cairns as we were starving. We ordered Tandoori Platter, Butter chicken, Jeera rice, and some Naans. The Tandoori platter was full of grilled sausage and just some couple of lamb and chicken.
Jeera rice was half cooked, Butter chicken was totally out of taste. And when we complained to the manager, there was no apology!!!
And even we have to wait almost 50 mins for these disgusting and crap food. Seriously this restaurant made our mood off and made us upset. We paid $108 for these crap foods. This restaurant made the wrong impression towards the Indian foods and other Indian restaurants. I will never ever eat in this restaurant and wont recommend any of my friends visiting Cairns.
The owner and the staffs really need to think that customer satisfaction is their motto not making dollar by ripping them off

We went to this restraunt for the first time last night, and it was AMAZING. The food is delicious, and the services was great. Mother india and Marinades are the only good indian restraunts in cairns. Definately will be going back

Food was very ordinary. We ask for extra Hot and Spicy - we even stopped the waiter (who i think was the owner) to make sure he understood we wanted it HOT and SPICY. He told us it will be Indian hot and not to worry.

Well the food came out (we order to vegetarian curries, 2 x nann and a Byrani (spelling sorry) and it was NOT hot AT ALL. I commented that i would give this food to my niece to eat - and she is only 2 years old! the Rice seemed too me like it was just steamed rice with a bit of Saffron coloring.

When he asked how our meal was i told him that it would have been nice if it were hot and he said it was hard to know how hot people wanted it (even though we explicitly told him we wanted it HOT). His told us he would bring us a chopped chili to add to our meal - this was a lame attempt to please us i thought. He then went on to "pay us out" because we did not eat the raw chopped chili - i let him know we would have preferred it in our curries!

what made it worse - my friend is native Indian - from Bangalore - I was embarrassed.

the cost was $61.50 - which i thought was way overpriced for what we received and the quality of it. The owner promised that he wold make our curries hot "next time" - unfortunately for him he will not get that opportunity.

We have found this restaurant to be very ordinary, especially for the price. The curries were good, not great, but small servings and the rice serves seem stingy as well. We felt very 'up-sold' to, as the waiter kept suggesting that we 'needed' accompanyments. I did say and felt like we had to keep stressing, that we have eaten Indian before and NO we don't need 4 types of flat bread, just the plain naan will be fine and no I am sure we dont need 2 serves of Raita......

Bit disappointing really, very bland premises, food a bit bland, and overpriced. There are better cheaper Indian resturants in Cairns.

We went to mother India to order a take away last week. There were four of us and we decided on three curries. The lady who took our order asked " only two curries?" I said no three. She read the curries back and did not include the first one. When we picked up the order and took it home there were only two curries. The first and last one we ordered. How can she say that when she obviously had already repeated to us the one she forgot.I rang to complain and she kept saying you only ordered two! We will never go back! The lady kept saying I can't hear very well. So why is she taking the orders if she can't hear? Not good service and not a good response after ringing back.

The service was poor. The food was bland. You can get much better food at a lesser price in nearby restaurants. It is not at all authentic.

food is bloody gud. Thats al i need to say...cheers to madan chef..

food was so delisious, good and exelent staff, i found only mother india (indian resturant )best in tha town with resnebele price with good service. thanx to tha resturant safe and resturant crew.special thanx to resturant manager mr. atul chowdhary. god bless and thanx for provaiding me exelent hospitality thanx a lot.

I ordered take away here this evening and the food was sensational and quick. No nonsense Indian cuisine.

the BEST India restaurant in AUSTRALIA... The food is senstional, service well you feel at home. the best atmosphere. 10 out of 10 in every aspect. both thumbs up!!

Visited in feb 2006,would recommend this place.Great food,good service,and well priced.

Good food but service was somewhat lacking will go back one day to check again.

THIS IS THE BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN CAIRNS.
The meals are exceptional, the service and atmosphere are authentic, yet relaxing. Excellent value for money.
