A complete guide to Cairns Restaurants

Nu Nu Restaurant

Ex Melbourne chef Nick Holloway's unique creations are delightful and elegant. Described by Delicious Magazine as 'culinary nirvana'.

Gorgeous setting at Outrigger Beach Club & Spa with sweeping beachfront views. Votes Gourmet Traveller's Regional Restaurant of the Year in 2008.

Without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Far North Queensland, and certainly one of the fine culinary examples in Australia.

I have had a love hate relationship with this Restaurant since it opened and my last visit vowed to never return. 2 different lots of friends from Melbourne came back telling me it was back to form although the service was still terrible and they convinced me to try it again.
My wife and I went for her birthday and had the 8 Course Degustation Menu with matching wines at $230.00 per head. Food was very ordinary and service opinionated and arrogant. The so called matching wines appeared to be more based on what was left than any genuine justification for it matching. I will definitely never return this time. It must be a Melbourne thing because there is nothing there that vaguely comes close to good food let alone great. Having been to Cutler & Co in Melbourne the week prior I think I know what great food is. It is not at Nu NU!!!

I would agree with Dave's comments below. Have been here on a number of occasions and always love the food. However, recently the service has been slipping badly. Inattentive staff do not make for a great night out. I'll not be back until they sort this out. Maybe a case of resting on their laurels?

Took some interstate friends to lunch whilst showing them supposedly the best of Cairns. Waited at the front for service foe over 10 minutes, only 2 tables seated, no one else around (12:30pm) and watched staff go about their busines, walk past and no acknowledgement at all.

After deciding that we felt like a bunch of fools by standing there we left only to receive the same service next door. We then got into the car, drove back into the city and had a great lunch.

I really hate to bag a business like this, but at the peak of the quitest season we had seen in years, there didn't seem to be much concern to make money and provide the service I had heard about on all the advertising etc.

My friend and I had the most deliciously simple lunch at NuNu's last week.
Calling the Blue Swimmer Crab Sandwich a sandwich does not do it justice - it made the most perfect lunch together with a glass of wine in this tropical setting. The service was friendly and efficient. Thank you so much.

This is what dining is all about. Without a doubt, some of the best food I have eaten. We tried it once, and then had breakfast, lunch and dinner there every day after!! Truly magnificant flavours and presented like works of art!! Some of the best service and cocktails around! Forget Sydney and Melbourne, this is one of the best restaurants in Australia.

Some of the best food I have eaten. Being from Sydney my expectations are high and NuNu's exceeded all expectaitons.

We have been there a number of times and just recently chose this as the restaurant to take all our guests for breakfast the day after our wedding!

Stunning location, Great food - What more could you want!
