Waterbar and Grill Steakhouse

Been here plenty of times great steak and ribs but unfortunately the sizes of the meals is slowly decreasing ......... Surprise surprise the prices haven't changed with meal size. Last nights serving was poor and we left hungry

I just tried booking a table. She put me on hold and forgot all about me. I tried calling back a couple of times and the phone is busy. Lucky I hung up!!

All i can say is that i used to work there, and in my days off if i wanted an amazing dinner in a good atmosphere and nice restaurant we allways ended up going back to the waterbar, sad cause it was work, but the food is freakin amazing!!! yummm yumm ribs, and steaks and burgers and the best s &p squid ever, even the vege platter!!! ahh i miss this place!

Best Restaurant in Cairns - I have dined here over 30 times and I can't recall a disappointing meal. Great Staff, Great Food = GREAT EXPERIENCE :) !!!!

All restraunts in cairns are good. But this one is astounding

I was told to come here and I was not disappointed. I ate
Buffalo wings with blue cheese.
Rare beef rib eye with mash and chips and blue cheese and red wine and chilli sauce.
Chococolate cake floating in choc sauce.
A couple of beers
Desert wine.

It was that good I am writing about it.....

What a meal for a single traveller.

Waterbar & Grill is the BEST place in Cairns for steaks, ribs and burgers. At lunch time, the lamb wrap is awesome, tender juicy lamb with grilled cheese and rocket toasted in a wrap with chunky chips and sweet chilli sauce. Excellent cocktails and beer / wine list. We LOVE this place and go there often.

I'm writing this from my iPhone at the table just after an amazing meal here at the waterbar and grill. I'm here with over 20 guys for a bucks dinner and every single one of us got an awesome meal and great service and we all agree. Meals came out fast and all tasted amazing. Thanks to everyone here. Great night.

im a massive fan of waterbar and grill , i had my birthday there , amazing food i reccomend anything on there menu because there bound to please , very helpful and polite staff also 10/10

Have been to the Waterbar and Grill quite a lot.

Have always been impressed with the food. The steaks are to die for let alone their mashed potato!!

I have only ever had one slight hiccup and that is waiting for over and hour for our food when as far as we were concerned, they were not that busy.

But I would still recommend the restaurant. One bad experience out of many is not so bad. Will be back soon.

We are locals & when deciding where to eat,we always end up at the Waterbar & Grill. Great steaks, good wine & always friendly helpful staff. They must be doing something right as it's always full of happy customers :)

I've been to the Waterbar at least 10 times now, and is by far the best place we've been to eat in Cairns -- and we've been to quite a few!

Always take our relatives there when they visit. I agree with others, the RIBS are a must.

By far and away the best steaks I have ever eaten. I haven't had a good steak since, and I've been everywhere. Absolutely love it and am literally planning a trip back to Cairns next winter to take my girlfriend there just for the steak. Can't wait for June!!!!

Dined at Waterbar in the past & always enjoyed food & service. That was until today when I attempted to book a table for 6 people at 7pm only to be told "no good" 6.30 or 7.30 is all that is available. Six big eaters and drinkers will be spending our $1000+ at any other restaurant but this one. Will be telling friends & colleagues as well. This is not "service".

I would just like to take the time to show my appreciation to Peter and his staff from The Waterbar. We completely booked out their restaurant (with numbers changing hourly) for a conference event.

The staff worked diligently and professionally under enormous pressure as there was a tight time frame in which to have the 120 or so guests serviced with entree, main and dessert. The meals were presented beautifully, on time and with a smile. All the delegates raved about the taste and quality of the food.

Thanks again to a very professional team, they are few and far between in the restaurant game. I will be returning for a meal myself when next in Cairns.

After speaking with the waitress we found out that the garlic prawns are the only prawns from Asia. Prawns in other dishes are local!

My first dining experience in cairns was at the waterbar and grill after it was recommended by several people. The food was amazing, the steaks were large and filling and cooked exactly how we asked which is hard to get these days. I have since returned on many occasions and i find it hard to find a better steak anywhere. 10/10!

My wife and I dined there on the evening of 01/July/09.
The atmosphere, service and attention to detail is very good.
The only negative for me was the entree of "garlic prawns"
On there arrival to the table I thought from the outset that they looked out of place. (The prawns). On tasting, they had no taste and were what I can only term as "watery"! The waiter happened to come by and ask if there was a problem to which I said "are these wild caught prawns"? She came back and advised that they are in fact wild caught but from Asia!
Look, we live in Cairns that has prawns on our door step and these people have decided to purchase prawns from overseas.
As a local to Cairns I was shocked and probably very weary of the steak I was about to have for mains. It was great. From my point of view watch those prawns! We noticed prawns in a lot of dishes, I wonder if they were from the same place as mine?
Overall an interesting place to dine.
Lesson from all of this is to ask for country of origin.
Lets support our local industry.

Previous visits to the waterbar and grill steakhouse have been very pleasing as their food is of such a high standard. however, my most recent visit to this place on sunday the 17th of may was far from a good dinning experience. Firstly, we waited for 15mins to be seated, at this stage the steakhouse was not at all full, it was merely due to the incompetent waitstaff. following this, the waitress who served us did not greet us and just dropped the menus and left again. all in all, this experience has ruined my personal opinion of this steakhouse and i will not be returning.

I'm a local of Cairns and have been for my 18 years. I have been to almost every restaurant there is in this city and i can honestly say that there is nothing that comes close to Waterbar and grill. it's the best!!!

Try it out, its BIG meals, value for money and exeption service.

Waterbar and Grill Steakhouse is a lovely restaurant. A group of friends and I had dinner there recently, after it was recommended to me by four other people in four separate conversations. My friends and I were impressed with the quality and presentation of the food, speedy and friendly service, pleasant ambience and reasonable prices. I would definitely go there again.

We have been dined in this resto now and then. Love the food especially from grill and great Thai Beef salad too.. Highly recommended and make sure u make booking, normally they are very busy. Great service too.. Absolutely LOVE it!

Went there for lunch today with a friend visiting from Brissy, first time we've all been there and it was by far the best meal I have had in a while - not to mention the great service. Will definitely be taking the GF there!

Recommended as a MUST place to eat when visiting Cairns.

...We came to Cairns for a week. After the second night in Cairns we dined at Waterbar and Grill, we went back every night!!!
The steak is amazing, the Tapas huge and very tasty, Portugese Chicken amazing, fish was fresh and fantastic, the south african sausage was excellent too!

Service was 5 star

The meals are of a high standard, a decent size and good value.

Highly reccomended, I will be back in June for another 7 nights of great food!

The best steaks in Cairns - BY FAR! If you are not a big eater then do not have an entree because you will need to leave room for mains. Portion sizes are huge. Steak is the best I have had in Cairns. True, melt in your mouth, steak!

Well done Waterbar & Grill - you have restored my faith in Steakhouses!

We are locals and find it hard to find consistantly good food & Service in Cairns. The waterbar has become one of our favorite restaurants because the food is so fantastic, especially the steaks. We love the open kitchen & chatting with the Chef's. Sometimes the service is hit or miss, but it is still one of our favorite restaurants and we take all our clients & guests there. Try the Espatada, it's our favorite!

A lovely tasty Restaurant! Suprised there are not more reviews on the page! My partner and I went to this Restaurant once a week when we lived in Cairns and not once were we let down. The best steak we have ever eaten! Being situated directly on the water creates a warm, relaxed atmospher and the inside decore is a credit to the owners who obviously have great taste! We can't wait to go back there after returning from England.

Booked in for Fathers day lunch and we were all impressed. Great value in great surroundings and the meals were big for a nice change. Very good service from all the staff, our glasses never sat empty on our table. Will definately be going back again.

I cannot express enough times how wonderful my experience was dining at this restaurant. I have been recommending the food to all my friends and am eager to take my husband with me next time as I'm sure he will enjoy it as much as I did. I commend the staff on their friendly and attentive attitudes and especially the chefs to the most exquisite tastes I have enjoyed in a long time when dining out. Well done everyone.
