A complete guide to Cairns Restaurants

Salsa Bar & Grill

Views of Dickson Inlet from a traditional plantation style Queenslander house, make Salsa Bar and Grill truly tropical. This is a very popular restaurant - even with US Presidents and short Australian Prime Ministers. Food is of a high calibre, and bookings are recommended.

My husband and I dined at Salsa last night. Despite no reservation we snatched up the last table. The waitress was very helpful and offered tastes of wines that I was uncertain about.
When it came to the food, I ordered the Mahi Mahi with rice, laksa sauce and greens with seared scallops. This was a very ordinary dish for $35. The scallops were not even warm much less seared. The laksa sauce was a creamy laksa but not amazing and bokchoi represented the greens.
This was a very ordinary meal - which the staff reduced in price due to Scallop issue.
Would also think that for the price of the place they could do a little better job table setting wise!

We have been travelling to Port for over 25 years and have been eating at Salsa for almost that amount of time. Without question it is the best place to eat in not only Port but Australia. We have NEVER had a bad meal and the service is the very best I have had and we have eaten all over the world. Dont go to Port if you dont eat here !

Thirteen of us turned up for lunch on a hot first day in Port Douglas. The staff whisked the six kids to one table, seven adults nearby and we were treated to great food and attentive service. We were so impressed that it became the venue for an adults-only push-the-boat-out money-no-object birthday dinner later in our five nights in PD. Again, faultless, the service from our TWO waitresses was simply standard-setting while the busy kitchen nailed it despite a full house. Highly recommended.

We have had the most pleasurable experience of dining at the Salsa Bar and Grill last week, November 4th...We were absolutely delighted with the atmosphere, the service, and the meal, their reef fish special of the day, was just the best fish meal we have ever experienced, not to mention their special entree of the evening, the seafood dim sims... Absolutely delicious and to also see Billy in action, was a delight to see. Thank you for a truly wonderful evening...

My husband and I have eaten at the Salsa Bar many times, and with backgrounds in hospitality, it speaks volumes that we think it is the best restaurant in Australia. The food is just magficent and the staff are friendly and the whole atmosphere is relaxed! We couldn't recommend it highly enough!

We've been to Salsa's many times.
The last time we were there so was Harry Connick Jr and his
beautiful wife and children.
You have got to try the Margheritas when you go there they are awesome.
The best gnocchi I have ever eaten in my life.
Just a wonderful, eclectic menu with fresh ingredients and a wonderful efficient & friendly staff.
